The Nicol Foundation honored Granite City Senior High School senior Clayton Jakul with the Foundation’s Granite City CEO Irvin O. Nicol Memorial Scholarship at the 2016 Senior Recognition Ceremony for Granite City High School. A student of the CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) class, Jakul was also a member of the National Honor Society and Social Studies Club at Granite City High School and played on the GCHS soccer team. Jakul also volunteers his service to the Madison Fire Department.
Requirements for the Nicol Foundation scholarship are to:
- Be an active enrollee and participant in the CEO Class.
- Obtain four character references from:
- A teacher or administrator
- A business leader/mentor
- A Church/Synagogue leader
- And an at large reference.
- Compose a 500 word (or less) essay on “American Exceptionalism”.

Gosebrink Earns Nicol Foundation’s Belleville CEO Scholarship
May 15th, 2016The Nicol Foundation honored Althoff High School senior Heather Gosebrink with the Foundation’s inaugural Belleville CEO Forrest T. Creson Memorial Scholarship at a 2016 Senior-Parent Recognition Ceremony for Althoff students on May 1st at Fisher’s Restaurant. A student of the CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) class, Gosebrink was also an Honor Roll student active on the Althoff Golf Team, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, St. Vincent de Paul, Crusaders Against Alcohol and Drugs and Rotary Interact Club. Also recognized were CEO honor students Cassandra Amorado, Alijah Gillespie and Jessica Stern.

2016 CEO Empowerment Day
February 5th, 2016The Nicol Foundation will hold it’s CEO Empowerment Day event on October 21st, 2016. Guest speaker will be retired CBS White House Correspondent, Peter Maer. An Edward R. Murrow Award winner and member of the the Granite City High School and SIUe Hall of Fames. Beyond an event for the CEO classes, it will be open to the public but will have limited seating (priority to TNF donors and sponsors). Details for acquiring tickets will be made later this summer.
