The Nicol Foundation’s (TNF) founder, Kevin G. Nicol, graduated cum laude from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in education and taught in area schools for 11 years. Nicol entered the financial services industry in August 1981. The quality and quantity of business he produced has been frequently recognized. From 2009 through 2017 Kevin has been recognized by St. Louis Magazine as one of the St. Louis areas best Wealth Managers. Kevin was also one of seven featured in the April 11, 2011 issue of Forbes Magazine as one of St. Louis’ best financial advisors and The Wall Street Journal in September 2014 and 2016 as one of the top 10 financial people to know in St. Louis.

Kevin is primary shareholder and President-CEO of Nicol Enterprises, Incorporated (NEI) dba Nicol Financial Services, a holding company owning: Nicol Investors Corporation (NIC), a Member FINRA and SIPC securities Broker/Dealer;financial-priorities Nicol Advisors Corporation (NAC), a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA); and Kevin G. Nicol and Associates, an independent insurance agency. Kevin and wife, Elizabeth, are also owners of Nicol Investment Properties, LLC, a property ownership and management company. He also is a Mason, Shriner, Optimist, Rotarian (Paul Harris Fellow), on the Board of Directors of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville Foundation, a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Granite City CUSD #9, a Board Member for the CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) Program in the Granite City CUSD #9, and honorary member of the U.S. Olympic Alumni Association – MO-IL Chapter.

As an author, Kevin has written many articles and has five published works: Financial Priorities, a Foundation for Financial Freedom; Making a Difference, the Nicol Way; Financial Priorities, the Workshop Series; the curriculum for NICOL University (NIC-U; a training program for financial services professionals); and Lean Not, Kevin’s autobiographical testimony. He is currently completing, compiling and editing a book about his father’s letters written home from World War II entitled “Your Loving Son, Irvin“.

Nancy (Nicol) Vetter-Staten, LCSW

Vice-President

Nancy Vetter-Staten is retired from being the Director of Social Services and Spiritual Care at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL for 21 years and Adjunct Professor of  psychology at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), Belleville, Red Bud and Granite City, IL for 20 years. A first cousin to The Nicol Foundation founder Kevin Nicol, Nancy has extensive experience counseling, teaching and working with 501c3 charitable organizations.

The Nicol Foundation’s (TNF) co-founder, Elizabeth L. Nicol, graduated magna cum laude from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in education. She is a retired teacher from the Granite City CUSD #9 and has dedicated her professional career to educating youth and working as a church choir director and organist. As wife to Kevin G. Nicol, Beth has been very involved with NFS business activities and has formed spouse support groups for Nicol Financial Services.


Adam Mongold

Associates Degree; 2016 from Lewis and Clark Community College – Godfrey.

Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance; December 2018 from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville.

Adam is also licensed in securities and insurance with Nicol Financial Services and serves as Kevin’s Assistant.


John Carenza

Committee Member

John Carenza graduated in 1972 from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, IL with a degree in business where he excelled playing soccer.  Earning membership in the SIUe Sports Hall of Fame, he is a member of multiple sporting Halls of Fame and currently is also President of the MO-IL U.S. Olympic Alumni Association. As a member of the U. S. Olympic Soccer Team, he helped lead the U. S. to its first Olympic appearance in 1972.  Also, he currently still holds the NCAA – Division I scoring record.   Licensed in securities and insurance, he is a Principal with Nicol Financial Services.
